A Multiresolution Approach for the Effective Properties of Complex Propagation Ducts and Effective Modes/rays Theory

چکیده

Multiresolution techniques are used to study the eeective properties of propagation in nely struc-tured ducts. A new formulation governing the smoothed component of the eld is derived and compared to the generic formulation governing the complete eld. The relation between the small scale structure of the system heterogeneity and the large scale eld is investigated. In particular, we use multiresolution and wavelet expansion to derive eeective measures for the system heterogeneity. These measures are heterogeneity functions that are simpler (smoother), but can still reproduce the correct large scale behavior of the eld. The eecacy of modal analysis and ray techniques in the new framework is discussed.

Effective Resonance Representation of Propagators in Complex Ducts—A Multiresolution and Homogenization Approach

We use the multiresolution homogenization theory to study the effective resonances representation of transient electromagnetic propagation in complex random multilayer ducts. The theory permits explicit choice of the smoothing (homogenization) scale, and can be applied to a wide range of micro-scale properties. The analytical study is based on a Wroskian equivalence result, which establishes th...

Wave Propagation Approach to Fluid Filled Submerged Visco-Elastic Finite Cylindrical Shells

Multi-layer orthotropic finite cylindrical shells with a viscoelastic core in contact with fluids are gaining increasing importance in engineering. Vibrational control of these structures is essential at higher modes. In this study, an extended version of the wave propagation approach using first-order shear deformation theory of shell motion is employed to examine the free vibration of damped ...

A Bayesian Networks Approach to Reliability Analysis of a Launch Vehicle Liquid Propellant Engine

This paper presents an extension of Bayesian networks (BN) applied to reliability analysis of an open gas generator cycle Liquid propellant engine (OGLE) of launch vehicles. There are several methods for system reliability analysis such as RBD, FTA, FMEA, Markov Chains, and etc. But for complex systems such as LV, they are not all efficiently applicable due to failure dependencies between compo...

Effective Vertical Modes and Horizontal Rays for Wave Propagation in Complex Inhomogeneous Ducts

Wave propagation in complex inhomogeneous, quasi-layered, 3D media is addressed using multires-olution analysis (MRA). The complexity is characterized by a fast, nely structured, variation of the system heterogeneity in the vertical (stratiication) direction, and a slow horizontal variation of the system heterogene-ity and/or the vertical boundaries (\fast" and \slow" here are relative to the w...

Quantum Squeezed Light Propagation in an Optical Parity-Time (PT)-Symmetric Structure

We investigate the medium effect of a parity-time (PT)-symmetric bilayer on the quantum optical properties of an incident squeezed light at zero temperature (T=0 K). To do so, we use the canonical quantization approach and describe the amplification and dissipation properties of the constituent layers of the bilayer structure by Lorentz model to analyze the quadrature squeezing of the outgoing ...
